Three logo designs

This is one of my first logos that I made of my initials. Its just a simple black box with rounded edges, with lines on each side and my initials in the lower left hand corner. The letters have three different colors in them so I made the lines the same colors to make it match.

This logo is of my full name. As the first logo, the background is a simple black box with rounded edges. But this is more of a rectangle than the first logo. I connected the "M" in my first name and the "W" in my last name together to make it some what of a ligature. The letters are purple and the line underneath my last name is purple and yellow. And to make my name pop, I replaced the dot above the "i" into a purple and yellow star.

This logo uses a symbol to replace a letter in my last name. I used a flower to replace the letter "i". I put the whole name on top of a think curved green line to kind of make it look like grass. I made the rest of the letter pink to make it match with the flower pedals. I made the flower with the paint brush tool.

Expressive Type

Project Description: For this project, I made four examples of stacked text, figure ground reversal, symbol replacement, and ligatures. On the top of the page, I used four simple words to make stacked text. Under that, I made four figure ground reversals using different colors and fonts to make them different. In the middle of the page, I made four symbol replacements by using one or more pictures to replace a letter in the word. On the bottom of the page, I used simple words to create ligatures.
New Skills, Processes & Tools Learned: In this project, I learned how to create outline on pictures and letters. I also learned how to make ligatures for my logo project.
Tools: Rectangle tool, Typing tool
Self Reflection: I think I did a good job on this project because I was creative and completed my 16 examples. The most challenging one was the positive and negative figure ground reversal. I think I did that wrong. The easiest was the stacked text.

Project Description: For this project, we used the tutorial http://www.vectordiary.com/illustrator/learn-illustrator-cs3-in-30-days/. I used the Week 2, Days 8-12 for this project. It was basically all about the brush tool and how to use it using different brush types. It also taught me how to work with colors and strokes. The letter "A" that you can see on the top of the page was made with the brush tool, not the typing tool. Also the heart and circle was stars was made with the brush tool.

New Skills, Processes & Tools Learned: I learned how to use the brush tool and gradient tool with this tutorial.
Shape Tools: circle, stars, rectangle
Drawing tools: Brush tool

Self Reflection: I think I did a good job with this part of the tutorial. It was much simpler than the other projects that we had to do. It took me about two days to finish.

Spaceship

Project Description- For this project, we had to make a spaceship using Adobe Illustrator CS3. We learned how to make it using a tutorial guide, http://www.denisdesigns.com/blog/2009/03/create-a-simple-spaceship-in-illustrator/. I made this by simply using the pathfinder tool and I made the colors look cool with the gradient tool. I also used the shapes tool to make the body of the spaceship and the stars.

New Skills/Processes/ Tools Learned- The new skills and tools I learned from this project was how to use the pathfinder tool. It was pretty confusing how to use it at first, but then I got the hang of it after awhile.

Shape Tools used- Circle, rectangle, stars

Self Refection- I think I did a fairly good job with this project. It was hard to do because the tutorial wasn't clear, but I was able to figure everything out with some help from the teacher and my classmates.

Illustrator Project

Projects Description: For this project, we used Adobe Illustrator CS3. We used the tutorial, http://www.vectordiary.com/illustrator/learn-illustrator-cS3-in-30-days/. The tools that I used to make these objects were the shapes tool, pencil, tool, and pen tool. All of the tools were simple to use, but the pen was the most difficult. The shapes that I made with the shapes tool was a square, rectangle and star. With the pencil tool, I made the triangle diamond, the curves on the top left. I made everything else by tracing an image with the pen tool. I made the key freehand with the pen tool, that took me awhile to do because it was hard.

New skills, Processes & Tools Learned:

New skills/Processes- I learned how make different shapes using the shapes tool, make shapes and curves using the pen tool, and how to copy and paste shapes.

Shapes- Star, square, rectangle
Drawing tools- pencil, pen, change anchor point tool.
Self reflection- I think I did a good job with this project. It was simply easy, but I had some difficulties. I think making the shapes were really easy, but the pen tool was confusing. It took me a long time to make the key, but from what you can see, I did it the best I could =]
